Module 0 · Before Anything Else

Read This First.
Before Module 1. Before Everything.

This isn't a pep talk. It's a gut-check. Most new editors quit after their first revert because nobody told them how Wikipedia actually works. Don't be them.

Module 1 · Core Policy · WP:NPOV

Neutral Point of View

Wikipedia doesn't take sides. It describes what reliable sources say, in proportion to how much they say it. This is the policy most new editors break without noticing.

Module 2 · Core Policy · WP:V

Verifiability

Readers must be able to check that what Wikipedia says comes from a reliable published source. If you add it, you must be able to cite it. No exceptions for experts.

Module 3 · Core Policy · WP:NOR

No Original Research

Wikipedia doesn't publish your conclusions — even good ones. If no reliable source has said it, Wikipedia can't say it either. This is the policy that catches experts.

Module 4 · Guideline · WP:RS

Identifying Reliable Sources

The guideline that underpins all three policies. Reliability isn't a property of a source on its own — it depends on the claim you want it to support.

Module 5 · Practical · Your First Edit

Your First Edit, Step by Step

The goal: one small, well-sourced edit that stays. You'll make it live during this module, not after it.

Module 6 · Practical · From Edit to Article

Write an Article

You've made small edits. This module takes you through a full contribution: choosing a topic, evaluating what's there, researching, drafting offline in a document, publishing it, and reviewing someone else's work. Adapted from Wiki Education's student training.

Module 7 · Special Topics

Representation, Health, Translation & AI

Four areas where the ordinary rules get stricter or the stakes get higher. Adapted from Wiki Education's student training and Wikipedia's own guidelines.

Module 8 · Measure · Impact

Measure Your Impact

Wikipedia is unusually transparent: every edit, every reader, and every article's quality rating is public. So set goals you can actually check.

Reference · Visual Editor User Guide

Visual Editor Guide

A how-to reference for the editor you'll use most. Dip in whenever you need it.

Sister Project · Wikimedia Commons

Wikimedia Commons

The free media library every Wikipedia draws from. Learn what you can upload, how licensing works, how to add images to articles well, and how to measure their reach. Adapted from Wiki Education's Commons training.

Sister Project · Wikidata

Wikidata

The structured-data backbone of every Wikimedia project — and of much of the internet. Learn how it's built, how to evaluate and add data, how to query it, and where its community lives. Adapted from Wiki Education's Wikidata professional development training.

Browse · Search · Check the original

Your Source Library

Find a publication or paste a sentence to look for relevant passages in your uploaded collection.

A match is a research lead, not proof. Read the original page and evaluate reliability, context, and significant viewpoints. Uploaded summaries and quotation notes are labelled separately from publication text. PDF page numbers count from the first file page; check the printed page number before citing.
